Building Phoenix Point: Behemoth Edition for Consoles
In approaching the console version of Phoenix Point, we, along with our partners at Saber Minsk, knew we would first have to rethink controls and user interface. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players can expect gamepad-first controls that help guide players intuitively through the actions they can take in the game.
Specifically, instead of simply mirroring mouse controls over to controller buttons, different actions in Phoenix Point: Behemoth Edition are assigned to specific gamepad buttons by default, and menus are broken into tabs. These tabs are accessed by controller triggers or with shoulder bumpers. All possible actions a player can take on a given screen or with a given interface are always accompanied by an onscreen legend, so players always know what they can be doing - or when a particular action cannot be performed. For first-time console players, this should all be easy to interpret, though those playing the PC version of the game of Phoenix Point or Year One Edition may notice some differences in how the UI has been optimized for these systems.

Additionally, players can expect some additional quality of life features, such as snapping to Points of Interest when players are on the Geoscape. For creating saved game names, renaming soldiers after your pets, and other text-based functions, Behemoth Edition includes a virtual keyboard.
In addition to including all downloadable content (DLC) released so far, as well as the all-new Corrupted Horizons DLC, Behemoth Edition also includes all of the free updates that we’ve already included in PC versions of Phoenix Point. Resolution for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be 1080/30fps, while on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X players will experience the game in 4k/60fps.
Lastly, for those looking to share their platform pride, PlayStation and Xbox owners come equipped with console-exclusive skins for their Operatives to help defeat the Pandorans in style.
We’re days away from the Behemoth Edition launch on PlayStation and Xbox this Friday and we know you’re excited to order and be ready when it’s available. Right now, you can pre-order physically via retail partners in your local markets, and wishlist the game via PlayStation here or in your region.
Rest assured, you will be able to purchase the game digitally from the Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox stores as of October 1st! See you on the battlefield this Friday!!
